Every portrait we make starts the same way: a photo on your phone. Maybe it's the one where they're mid-yawn on the sofa. Maybe it's the last good picture you have of them. You send it to us, and we turn it into a piece of art you'll want on the wall for the next twenty years.
Familiar & True began with a simple frustration: pet portraits were either cheap-looking prints or commissions that cost more than a sofa. We wanted something in between — a real portrait, made from your real photo, at a price a normal family can say yes to.
How it works
- Send us your photo. Any clear shot works — phone photos are fine. Tell us your pet's name and pick a style.
- We recreate it. Our studio digitally recreates your photo in a classical oil painting style, keeping the details that make them them — the head tilt, the crooked ear, the look they give you at dinner.
- You approve it before we print. We email you a preview. Want a change? We adjust it. Only when you say yes does your portrait go to print.
- It ships from the USA. Every order is printed to order in the United States and packed to arrive safely at your door.
Why "Familiar & True"
A familiar is an old word for a spirit companion — the creature that follows you home and never quite leaves. True is what a good portrait is: faithful to the animal in front of you, not a cartoon version of it.
That's the whole idea. Not a novelty mug with a dog on it. A portrait that looks like the animal you actually live with.
